Mission

From Jon 10-31-05

Bueno ok.

So I an now up to 5 baptisms in my first month and i have got another one that I’m baptizing on Saturday. her name is Pearla. She is this super cool 12 year old girl. I have been working with her since I got here. She can never make up her mind. Sometimes she is like “I wanna get baptized and other times “no I don’t want baptism” but I talked to her for a while, and with my broken Spanish I set a baptismal date this Saturday and she is very excited she told her whole family and everything.

I baptized her older brother and helped confirmed him yesterday. I gave my first blessing in Spanish too. This girl in our Ward was sick and my comp was like “go for it man.” I was like ummm I’m gonna pass. then he was like come on you can do it just go by the spirit. It was cool. A little short but it was cool.

As of today I have 634 days till I get home. Don’t worry I’m not counting every day. I just wondered. Happy Halloween.

I have been having some hard times out here, like I’m sick every day and I’m always sore. My foot still hurts but I just try and ignore it. I figure as long as its still there I’m doing ok.

I’m guessing you heard about the giant Nicaragua sized hurricane that is kicking our butt right now. It’s going to be directly over Nicaragua in about 2 or 3 days we think. Pres said we have to go buy food to last us through the storm cause it’s likely we wont be able to go out and work.

Anyway. i love you guys.

Keep the mail coming. If you can please send me pictures. I know it’s possible. Just hook up your camera and when you email click the attach
button. Then select your camera and upload the pictures i know dad can figure it out. Spanish is coming along. I suppose I’m learning more every day, but honestly it doesn’t look like I’m getting any better. This is a very slow process.

As for the driving here in Nicaragua: if you saw the driving here and the taxis I ride in like daily you would want me to come home. You would fear for my safety and you should. It’s pretty bad. Anyway, I’m still alive for now. I’m making it from day to day.

I really would like to see some pictures from China and I really would like some pictures of you and dad cause I only have like 3 so anyway.

I love you very much and have fun k-

From Jon in Nicaragua

Hello from the upper crest of the Celestial Kingdom. My foot isn’t much better but they sent me back to work anyway. I have a new area and a new comp. I’m in one of the most dangerous areas of the mission now. It’s called Rene Polanco. No more mountains no more jungles, only trash and people who make fun of Mormons. Its cool. I’ll baptize them all and who ever rejects me will be condemned. So my new companion is Elder Stapleton. Wait a minute: that sounds like a white guy’s name. THATS RIGHT. My new companion is a white guy from Idaho. My new house is really bad. It’s worse than the first. No hot water in the mornings and no water in the afternoon or night. So just like Mark I have to flush my toilet with a bucket, and just like Mark I have to wipe my diarrhea butt with the Church News. Sorry that may have been an over- share but it’s the truth. The members here are way cool. They all work really well with us, and I’m actually in a Ward now. It’s not a tiny little branch like my first area. I killed a scorpion in my house, and I battled with about 300 cockroaches in the shower. I came off victorious. SOY TODO PODEROSO. Any way, I got 1 baptism here that makes 3 total, and I have been here for 3 weeks. Not bad, huh? I think I’ll do allright come the end of my mission. I miss you guys a lot, like alot a lot. I’m gonna try and email you some pictures from Yahoo right now. I sure love you both, and the whole family too. Well, hopefully you can get my pictures and put them up on wrightclan.net/blog . Well, I hope to hear from you soon.

Love, your son and brother,
